Bridging Time & Space: Essays on Layered Art
Published in Hardcover by Markowitz Pub (December, 1998)
Authors: Society of Layerists in Multi-Media, Ann Bellinger Hartley, Mary Carroll Nelson, and Susan Hallsten McGarry
Average review score:

Bridging Time & Space describes layered art.
In separate, but harmonious, voices, eleven writers describe layered art as an expression of a holistic perspective. Each chapter addresses a theme, illustrated in color with artworks related to: alchemy, the spirit, earth metaphors, cosmic forces, healing, archaic traces and the millennium. Layered art reflects the forward edge of syncretic thinking, the recognition that the universe is held within a matrix of shared consciousness. Everything is connected with everything else.

Broken in the Right Place
Published in Hardcover by Thomas Nelson (March, 1994)
Author: Alan E. Nelson
Average review score:

THE BLESSEDNESS OF BROKENNESS
There are many complexities and paradoxes inherent within the Christian faith, and believers are susceptible to doubt and disillusionment when perplexed by adverse circumstances. For every believer who desires to attain a deeper experience of God in their Christian walk, but has doubted or wondered about the sufferings and trials we are called upon to endure as followers of Christ, BROKEN IN THE RIGHT PLACE is a pivotal work and a must-read.

With great insight and sensitivity, Alan Nelson asnwers many of the questions that believers may have about God's dealings with those who have made a life choice to walk the path He has chosen for them. By appealing to the spiritual desire of those seeking to fulfill their hunger and thirst for the deep things of God, Nelson calls us to take a good, long, searching look at the prize that God sets before us, while he outlines the process we must yield to in order to obtain it. He helps us to understand not only the process or method God uses, but also His aim in subjecting believers to it.

I was keenly touched and inspired by this book because Alan Nelson's description of a life of brokenness appeared most attractive and desirable. He soothes our doubts and calms our fears about suffering by helping us to understand and accept it not only as God's will for us, but as something that is endurable by God's grace and will work to our greater benefit. Those who seek understand- ing, comfort and inspiration will not be disappointed.

Build Your Own Bethlehem: A Nativity Scene and Activity Book for Christmas Time
Published in Paperback by Liturgy Training Publications (September, 2002)
Authors: Gertrud Mueller Neslon, Peter Mazar, and Gertrud Mueller Nelson
Average review score:

Great Christmas book for children or adults
"Build Your Own Bethlehem" is a great little book for children or adults. It is beautifully illustrated & the figures are easy to assemble. The text ties the figures into Christian theology and worship & the figures can be used for the Annunciation, the Nativity, the Epiphany & the Presentation in the Temple
(Candlemas). Perfect for parents & children to work on together. It is the only nativity scene I have come across that includes Anna & Simeon from the presentation of Jesus in the Temple. The price is a bargain so I bought several to use as Christmas gifts.

A must for any student of Cabrera Infante's work.
Dr. Nelson's grasp of the complexities of the satiric tradition and how Infante's work reflects and builds on this tradition, make her critical monograph a classic for the study of Infante's work.

Cassidy
Published in Paperback by Council Press (April, 2002)
Author: Lee Nelson
Average review score:

One of my favorite books of all time!
Cassidy is a historical fiction account of Butch Cassidy's life. It is extremely well written and holds your interest through the whole book. I loved learning about the life of, in my opinion, the greatest outlaw of the west. The only book that comes close to matching this book is Rockwell, also by Lee Nelson. I couldn't more strongly recoment either of these books!

The Cat and the Jill of Diamonds (Five Star First Edition Mystery Series)
Published in Hardcover by Five Star (June, 1900)
Author: Carole Nelson Douglas
Average review score:

Purrr-fect
Long before Midnight Louie adopted Temple Barr, or as much as this womanizing cat can settle down with anyone, he made his home at the Crystal Phoenix. Nicky Fontana and his wife Van von Rhine own the classic Vegas small hotel and casino and are making it a must go to place in Las Vegas. Inside the hotel is the Crystal Curtain Music Theatre where Gentleman Johnny Diamond sings the tunes that have made him the heartbreaker of millions of women.

Someone stalks Johnny, sending him letters threatening to kill the performer. Nicky beefs up security to the point that the crooner begins to go stir crazy and needs a taste of diversion. Professional gambler Jill O'Roarke is hired to teach Johnny how to play poker. They fall in love, but each of them conceals secrets that could tear them apart.

Superstar Midnight Louie's role in this delightful prequel from his seafood salad days is that of watcher. He studies the strange behavior of humans as if he is a social anthropologist struggling to understand an alien race. His witty, ironic observations entertain the audience as few charcaters can. Still, he also plays a pivotal role in the superbly designed romantic suspense. Louie proves why he is such a favorite of readers, as Carole Nelson Douglas leaves her audience purring for more.

The Cat and the Queen of Hearts: A Midnight Louie Las Vegas Adventure (Five Star Standard Print Mystery Series)
Published in Hardcover by Five Star (December, 1999)
Author: Carole Nelson Douglas

Another great entry!
This book is another great entry in the Midnight Louie series, giving us the back story on Darcy McGill and Steven Austin. I really enjoy finding out about the characters before we got to know them in the other Midnight Louie "The cat and the..." books. If only I didn't have to wait until June to find out what happens next...

I'm glad they these books are now in print, as they give the series an added dimension.
